More than 60% of the juices and concentrates packed in drums and destined for Europe is handled and stored at HIWA Rotterdam.

We work for the major producers and packers of juices and concentrates, and most of them have a part of their stocks in our cold storage facilities.

Port cold storage facilities

At the IJselhaven facility, we can discharge reefer vessels straight into our cold storage facilities. This means a considerable saving in the local costs, which of course benefits our clients.

Computerisation, which allows us to efficiently manage the product flow and stock, is the very heart of our business. Our recognised expertise in this field is based on the ongoing development of specific software and can be seen in terms of extremely high performance applications.

HIWA's office staff knows the precise requirements of their clients, such as in-house customs clearance, transport arrangements and delivery schedules.

Processing, de-drumming delivery into tank trucks, blending and drum filling

HIWA currently offers much more than storage. Our services in the sphere of processing raw materials are becoming more and more important for our clients.

Our company has therefore perfected its entire range of services in order to provide our clients with comprehensive logistic solutions dedicated to the efficient movement of their juices and concentrates, including the processing of their products.

In our 2 brand-new processing facilities at the IJselhaven, we have the following equipment at our disposal:

Fully automatic de-drumming installations.
Crushers plus heat-exchangers.
Blending tanks.
Buffer tanks.
Drum filling installations.
CIP ( cleaning-in-place ) installations.
Loading hails for a total of 6 tank trucks.

To reduce product losses to a minimum, pigging systems have been installed in various places. The system uses a ball-like device inside the pipe to squeeze the product out of the pipe and into the tank truck.

The work in our laboratory is continually expanding, and many of our clients prefer to let our team of people perform the analysis of their products immediately upon arrival at our cold storage facilities.

It is also very convenient when we are making blends because our team can perform the analysis of the blended products before the actual delivery to the customers. For these analyses we have the most modern equipment and latest technology in our laboratory.

Traceability and integrated computer links

In order to provide the highest standards of service and information, HIWA draws on the latest computerised information and communications technology, which is maintained and continuously enhanced by HIWA's own in-house systems and analyst experts.
The objective is always to respond to clients' needs. We have developed a system that enables our clients to communicate with us via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and the Internet.
Our barcode system registration accurately shows the relative information for each and every delivery. This advanced tracking and tracing system guarantees that the goods can be monitored from minute to minute.

Both our terminals at Waalhaven and IJselhaven are ideally situated and directly connected to the national motorway system, leading straight into the European hinterland.
